In the year 2003 we ventured into the care of the patients living with AIDS (PLHA) in the premises of Narol Leprosy Hospital and later shifted to Ramol to continue the work as we left the Leprosy hospital as per decision of the Gujarat Government. Patients those who were registered with us were shifted to Kheda Social Servile centre later on. In the year 2007 we started to work for HIV/AIDS patients in Umreth. Umreth Nagarpalica has given us a room near railway station for this purpose. The patients experience kindness, compassion, acceptance and strength.
PLHA Themselves have named this centre as Karuna Shakti. The PLHA have get together once a month to share their psychological and social problems and to get support from each other. They help each other to get the available schemes from government. We visit the patients and their family when they are in need. Our aim is to help the PLHA to live with dignity and to earn their own livelihood.
